Summer Style: the prom dress

I am in my senior year of high school, the year of exams, finals, a lot of stress, but also prom! I’m not going to lie, I, like every other girl, was pretty excited about getting my prom dress. So when I was in Brighton the other week, I spent a good day looking for the perfect dress. But in the end, I ended up finding the one!

My dress was a long, navy dress with a flowery pattern and a high neck. If there is one thing I love about a dress, it’s a high neck line. The fabric was flowy and very lightweight; perfect for a warm summer night.

For my shoes I went for a simple nude high heel. I did not have anything specific in mind, I just knew they had to be comfortable enough! After all, I had to wear them a full evening and night.

For my hair I decided to go for a bohemian updo. Now I have to be honest, I did not do this myself. I am ridiculously clumsy when it comes to hair, so I went to the hairdressers for this. My make up however, I did do myself. I used both my Urban Decay Naked 3 and my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette to create this look. I decided to go for a pink toned eye as it would match the flowers in my hair and on my dress. For the lips I kept it subtle with my Mac lipstick in the colour ‘Mehr’.

Summer in Brighton: the boho dress

It doesn’t happen too often that you’re in the United Kingdom and the sun is out. But luckily, during my 3 day stay in Brighton, the sun was out in full force and it were 3 proper summer days. When that happens, you got to get your dresses out!

This boho dress from Zara doesn’t really need too many accessoires, if you ask me. I just paired it with some lace heels and I was good to go! Perhaps not the smartest move to wear heels while roaming Brighton all day, but at least it looked nice.

Winter Style: i want to believe

Grunge is definitely the word that inspired this look. Now I know that this outfit may not be the perfect ‘grunge aesthetic’ that I always rave about, but I also wanted some comfort. I started off with a pair of ripped jeans (with some tights underneath cause it’s hella cold here) and a black top and I added my denim blouse as an extra layer to keep me warm. I topped it off with some rings and a choker bracelet and done ! Simple.

Winter Style // the fake glasses

In a previous post I confessed my love for fake, nerdy glasses. I have now finally found my true love. These glasses are quite big, I admit, but I like them a lot. They give your outfit just that little extra touch.

Also, this jumper is hands down the most confortable and warm thing I have ever owned. I love to wear it with a skirt, like I did over here, or with a simple pair of jeans. I don’t know, it looks kinda cool, I guess.

Winter Style: the red beanie

This outfit might not be the most Christmassy outfit but we cannot be festive all the time.

If you have been following my blogmas this year, you will know that I got this red beanie quite recently. And let me tell you, I have fallen in love with it. Besides the fact that I fangirl everytime I see it (because it is, for the ones who don’t know, a Twenty One Pilots beanie), I also love how it looks with most my clothes. Red is obvioulsy a tricky colour but so far I have been able to wear it with quite a few outfits without a problem.

Another part of the outfit that I like is the denim jacket. I own quite a few denim jackets however, nothing quite like this one. Although it does not have pockets which can be very annoying at times, I do love the slightly oversized feel and the patches. Pair it with a pair of black jeans, a black top and a a beanie or hat for some colour and you are good to go.

I will see you tomorrow!

Winter Style: we used to dream of outer space

Today I am off to an early Christmas celebration at my grandparents house and I thought: why not share my outfit of today? If there is one thing I am obsessed with it has to be space. I admit, I am a space loving geek. I suppose you can imagine how I freaked out when I saw this shirt in the shop. Pair it with a nice choker (another obsession of mine) and some black skinny jeans and you are good to go.

See you tomorrow!

Autumn Style: the grunge aesthetic

I feel like I simply cannot write a blogpost without having said anything about the American elections from today. I am not an American. I do not know anyone who lives in America, at least not personally. That makes writing this a bit strange. It almost makes me feel like an intruder. I know that I am not an American nor do I know all the finest details about the situation, however, as an outsider, there is something I want to say.

If I would have been an American the day everyone went out to vote, I would not have voted for Trump. Because of the simple fact that he has certain beliefs and opinion that I do not agree with. Not that I fully agree with everything Clinton has to say, but like the Doctor once said; sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones, but you still have to choose. So yes, in this case, I would have been with her. But the thing is, saying this has no more use, no more utility. What’s done is done and there is nothing we can do apart from looking forward.

So to everyone who voted for Trump; good for you. For everyone who didn’t; I’m so sorry. I get your fear, I get your anxiety and I get your distress. You have all the right to feel that way. All I really want to say to you is this: hold on, be strong, because things won’t be bad forever. Just be who you want to be and be proud. Don’t let anyone ever tell you who should or shouldn’t be. I am not American nor do I know a lot about America, however there is one thing I do know. I know that Trump and everyone who stands behind him will never be strong enough to take away America’s freedom. The freedom to be whoever you want to be. To believe whatever you want to believe and to go where ever it is that you want to go. Don’t let anyone take that right away from you.

To everyone, all around the world; whether you support Trump, or Hillary, or neither, or whether you don’t really care about these elections, we can all learn something from this. We may not have the power to change the world or to get the president we want, but we do have the power to change ourselves. So to everyone; stay alive, hold on, be strong, be kind, be you and be proud. Be the change you want to see in the world. After all, that is all we can do.

With that being said, I feel like I can now talk about something less significant. If you know me or you follow my instagram, you might know that I am in love with everything grunge and everything space. So this outfit, I would say, is very much me. It is not really Dutch-Autumn proof, but these pictures were taken on my recent holiday in Spain. If I were to wear this outfit in Holland right now, I would most likely freeze to death

Summer Style: the coachella look

A little while back I went on a holiday to the Canary Islands and one day we decided to go roadtripping! If you want more details about my holiday and the roadtrip then stay tuned because it will be up on my blog soon!

During a roadtrip you want to be nice and comfy. Hence why I decided to wear this playsuit from Mango. And honestly, I love this look! First of all, the playsuit is so comfortable, you have no idea but second of all, I think it looks so nice! All day I kept saying ‘one day I am going to go to Coachella and this is what I am going to wear!’. Because this playsuit, especially in this specific scenery, just gave me such a Coachella feel! I loved it! The only thing that was missing was live music and flowercrowns.

An outfit of the day again! I feel like it’s been a while since I have last done one. Fun little story for you; when taking these photo’s, a dog peed all over my new coat which laying on the grass. Great.

What I love most about this outfit is the turtle neck jumper. I know that not everyone loves these, but they have become my obsession lately! Besides them keeping me warm, they – in my opinion – just look really cute.

Autumn Style: the early season

I am sitting here in my room, drinking a nice, warm cup of tea, ready to write!

One of my favourite times in the year is definitely the time between summer and autumn. It’s still warm outside, but not too warm, some early leaves are turning orange already and autumn and winter shopping is starting. Last thursday me and my friend Claire went out and we decided to take some pictures.

What I like about autumn clothes is that you can layer them. As I tend to get cold very quickly, I love to wear layers and nice warm jumpers. That is the reason why autumn and winters clothes are handsdown my favourite.

To be honest, I just threw this outift on because I was running late for school and I had no idea what I wanted to wear, so I took the first thing I saw in my wardrobe and put it on. I was quite happy that I did because this dress is not only cute in summer but also so nice for autumn (or an early autumn).

I picked out the dress and to make it more suitable for the wheater I decided to put on some black tights. On top of that I wore a green vest (which you can’t see on the picture). To keep me even warmer I also wore my leather jacket which I litteraly wear with everything! Adding a leather jacket to a dress is a great way to ‘toughen up’ the look. For my shoes I put on my black ankle boots and for my jewelry and accessories , I kept it very simple, with just one big necklace.

Personally, I love to wear dresses in autumn and winter, as they can look so cute with a pair of black ankle boots or even with some good ol’ geek shoes. You can make them suitable for every season by adding tights, jackets, cardigans, big scarfs or even a jumper underneath.

What is your favourite thing about autumn? The clothes, the food, the wheater? Let me know in the comments!

Summer Style: flower power

The one thing on my summer bucket list is to blog more often. Because of school I can’t always find the time to write something for you guys but now that summer is coming up and school will be over in 3 days, I will have plenty of time which I would love to spend on blogging.

This summer I want to do something special so I will be doing a summer series for you guys! In this series I will be doing plenty of posts all about summer. This includes summer outfits, make up, snacks, vlogs and even more! I am going to call this series Summer Time with Anne. Please feel free to send me a picture of your recreation of something I did in the post, because I would love to see!

The first post in this series will be a summer outfit. This outift is perfect for those days when it is not that hot outside but you still want to look fashionable for summer.

Loose Shirt – Mexx. Trousers – Vila. Shoes – Small Boutique in Barcelona. Sunglasses – H&M.

The one thing you must have in your wardrobe for this summer is a pair of flowy trousers, preferably one with a  pattern. The best way to wear this is with a flowy basic shirt, tucked in your trousers. The good thing about these trousers is that they can go perfectly with every occasion. I once wore this outift to school, but it is also perfect for a day at work or if you are going shopping.

The way you can adapt these trousers to the occasion is shoes. It is all about the shoes you wear with it. Wear it with slippers and you get this bohemian/hippie outfit. Wear it with a cute pair of sandals (careful! not printed if your trousers are printed as well!) and you will look casual for the day. To dress it up you can pair it with your favourite pair of killer heels or platforms. Nomather what you pair it with, it will look good, I can assure you!

One of the things for me about being on holiday is deciding what to wear out for dinner in the evenings as it can get a bit colder once the sun has gone down. These trousers will definately be one of my go to outfits for those moments. You can even wear it with a cardigan or white blazer if it is too cold to go without.
